Each tape provides a scenario in which a skill is performed; this scenario is shown in real time with all of the possible distractions, as well as interspersed with interviews with the EMTs involved in the scene.

In this format the viewer can apply the knowledge of the skill to a commonly encountered call.

Then each step in the skill is broken down into its components so that the viewer can learn the steps without the distractions.

Delmar’s Advanced Life Support Series is a helpful tool for instructors to use for the skills/demonstration portion of the course.

The videos can also be used as a refresher for students preparing to take the National Registry exams.

Features:

Skills are grouped, when applicable, for a logical and pedagogically sound presentation of the skills within an area.

Filming environment is set up to provide a variety of realistic field settings (e.g., a home, a car accident site, a construction site, etc.).

Filming includes the use of actors to stage a scene, interspersed with close-angle filming using a mannequin for actual demonstration of skills such as CPR or invasive procedures that could not be performed on an actor.

Videos open with a dramatization of the scenario illustrating how the medical personnel must multi-task in live situations and then moves in to show how to accurately perform the skill step-by-step
